It’s that great time of year when we say goodbye to one year while welcoming the next. It’s a time when we get to look back at the accomplishments that have passed. There have many great accomplishments within the entertainment industry this year in each genre. My post for the rest of December will highlight the best of each movie genre of 2011, I will be starting out with this post by highlighting the best Comedies month by month.
January
The best comedy of January was The Dilemma. First off I have to admit that I’ve yet to see a Vince Vaughn movie that I didn’t find hilarious, so this may be a little biased. Regardless of that little deciding factor, The Dilemma is hilarious, it seems that the more Ronnie, Vince Vaughn tried to be a good friend and let his best friend know the truth about his wife, the more everything just went downhill at full speeds.
February
Best Comedy out in February was definitely Hall pass. This movie followed a group of middle aged man, who sadly hadn’t realized that they were no longer 20 years old. Their wives out of frustration gave them a “hall pass” from being married. Everything that could’ve gone wrong while chasing women did in fact go wrong, really wrong.
March
The month of March wasn’t all that exciting as far as comedies go. The best that Hollywood gave us was the comedy drama Take me home tonight. It definitely had a nice combination of humorous scenes splashed in with an equal amount of dramatic scenes.

April
Arthur came out during the month of April and out of all of the comedies released that month, it placed at the top. This movie portrayed a very spoiled man, played by Russell Brand who could barely make it as a result of never having a care and spending his entire life in imagination land. He quickly learned that life wasn’t all fun and games when his mother cut him off from his fortune for not marrying her choice. Fortunately, Arthur’s antics paid off in the end and life returned to a happy go lucky state.
May
The top comedy for the month of May and possibly the entire year was none other than the Hangover 2. The Hangover crowd returned for yet another excursion of insanity that made the first look like a time of peace.
June
Mr. Popper’s penguins came in a close second to Bad teacher, however in the end Bad Teacher definitely took the prize. This movie was hilarious, Cameron Diaz played Elizabeth Halsey, an extremely bad teacher that a small part of me would have actually found interesting in those long High School years.
July
There were many great comedies to choose from during the month of July, however the one comedy released that stood out was Horrible bosses. Maybe it was the exaggeration that each of us can connect with in some level at some point. Regardless, this movie packed in one laugh after another.
August
The month of August also had many comedies to choose from. Out of all of them, My Idiot Brother stood out as the best. This movie gave us several scenes that made us laugh from start to finish.
September
September didn’t bring us any laugh out loud comedies, however it did bring us What’s your number. What’s your number was a cute romantic comedy about Ally played by Anna Faris trying desperately to not go over 20 sexual encounters. This was all based on one of those famous Cosmo like quizzes.
October
The Big year was released in October and provided several laughs for all who watched it. This film cast Jack Black, Owen Wilson and Steve Martin as the main characters. These three filled the theaters with laughter as their audience watched them succumb to one mishap after another on their Big Year.

November
November gave us yet another Harold and Kumar movie, this time based around Christmas. This movie was just as funny as all of the other Harold and Kumar movies filled with the typical desperate struggles that always seem to appear following a little too much forbidden smoke.
December
The comedies of December have yet to be released, therefore I am forced to rely solely on my projections based off of the movie trailers. There are only 2 comedies being released this month, I bought a Zoo and New Year’s Eve. New Year’s Eve is a romance comedy and I bought a zoo is a comedy drama. After both trailers and based on cast I am projecting that the best of the two and the one that you’ll want to see this month will be I Bought a Zoo.
Look for my upcoming December post outlining the best action movies of 2011, the best Dramas of 2011 and the best thrillers of 2011.
