This year brought us some great drama movies. I have longed, dreamed and cried right along with everyone else. I have to admit that the drama movies released this year were some of the best I’ve seen, I can only hope that next year’s releases are comparable.
January
The Company of Men was released in January and followed the lives and struggles of 3 men who were being forced to deal with company layoffs. It touched on the personal struggles of real life that many people have had to or could experience. This was a touching film that showed acceptance and growth.
February
The best drama out in February was the Other Woman. It tells the endearing yet difficult challenges of entering the life of a child as in this case a Step Mother. With each passing struggle, a bond began to grow between the characters, a true tear jerker.

March
The Lincoln lawyer was released in March and had the perfect combination of drama and action. It was the story of a defense attorney who was so disturbed by his client’s crime that he risked everything to ensure justice to victim. It’s a story we’ve seen before, though in Lincoln Lawyer this story came to life like never before.
April
In April Soul Surfer was released. This was a great comeback movie that followed a young surfer’s struggles and challenges following a shark attack that clamed one of her arms. This movie was an emotional masterpiece.

May
Best drama out in May was Hesher. It tells a story of a young boy holding onto a life of grief, it isn’t until Hesher comes along that the boy begins to come back to life. Hesher is a little odd though definitely fun and it wraps around letting go and living.
June
There weren’t a whole lot of choices in June however of the minimal choices I chose Beginners. It was surreal movie that told the story of a man who was dealing with his father’s coming out and illness along with his own loneliness. Through learning to accept others, he was able to accept himself.
July
July believe it or not didn’t have a single drama released that was worth mention.
August
The Help was released in August and told the story of a group of black homemakers for white families. It displayed not only their life in their position, it also displayed the bravery it took to tell their story. Additionally, this movie showed the world the thin line between working for a loving family and a not so loving family.
September
The movie Take Shelter was released in September and told an emotionally horrifying story. This movie followed the mental illness of a man who had apocalyptic visions that he couldn’t decipher from reality. His family faced his illness with him through their own struggles. If you haven’t seen this movie yet be sure to set aside some time, it’s definitely worth watching.
October
The Margin Call was released in October and showed the lives of many key players in the banking investment department on the wake of a financial crisis that would rock the nation. It showed a whirlwind of emotion and sacrifice. Add to that greed and desperation and you have a movie that follows real life possibilities.

November
As much as I hate to admit this, I’m picking Breaking Dawn as the best drama out in November. Sadly my niece has me hooked on the Twilight movies and I wait patiently between each one. This movie spent even more time on the love affair and triangle that faced Bella. Yes they have in fact finally given us what we have all waited for, the marriage of Bella and Edward.
December
Just released yesterday is the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It’s a thriller drama and filled with intensity. It follows the dangerous investigation of a murder that had gone unsolved from decades past. Great movie, if you’re planning on hitting the theaters then you should definitely consider this movie.
