Three decades after the closed accidental drowning of Natalie Wood, the investigation of her death is reopened. Apparently for new information that wasn’t originally discovered. As far as anyone can tell as of yet, that new information comes from the yacht captain who claims to have failed to give his true account of the events that night.
In case you’ve forgotten or it was before your time, here’s a quick recap. Natalie Wood had died in the darkened waters near the coast of the Santa Catalina Island. Her death received a great deal of media attention. As tensions rose, the Los Angeles Police Department eventually ruled her death an accident.
The Los Angeles police department is now reopening her case based on new evidence. Exactly what this new evidence is has yet to be released. There has been mention of the yacht captain, Dennis Davern changing his initial story, though many people question his motives as he has been pushing his book, Goodbye Natalie, Goodbye Splendor.
The police department has also released in a statement that there’s more new information than just Davern’s, yet they haven’t released any clues as to just what that information may be. In actuality they have remained rather vague, more so than what would be deemed as normal police department behavior.
So what exactly could be the reason behind such a high degree of secrecy? Could her death be more bizarre than anyone could have ever imagined? Is it possible that they are being careful to not leak any part of their police investigation? Or could it just be that they want to avoid the media frenzy that once circled her death? Unfortunately, we have no choice but to wait for time to answer these questions, I will however be certain to inform you as each question is revealed.
