Horror fans, get ready: 'The Cabin in the Woods' is finally out

It's a great week for new DVD and Blu-ray movies.

Fans of horror movies are in luck this week, because at long last, the Joss Whedon/Drew Goddard penned flick The Cabin in the Woods is out on DVD and Blu-ray. If you've seen it, you know: This is a winner, and (in my humble opinion), one of the most interesting and entertaining horror movies that's come out in quite a while!

If horror isn't your thing, you have lots of other options, including the wonderful drama The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel and the Katy Perry music documentary Part of Me. And stop snickering: It got really good reviews!First and foremost, if you haven't seen The Cabin in the Woods yet, try to avoid reading too much about it. There are some spoilers, and I want to be sure everyone has a good time seeing it for the first time! This is not your typical horror movie, and trust me when I say it's tons of fun.

The Cabin in the Woods - Official Trailer HD (2012)

Normally I spend a vast majority of my horror movie-watching time hiding my face in terror. I didn't with The Cabin in the Woods. I had an absolute blast! This is definitely one worth seeing on DVD and/or Blu-ray.

Also new on DVD this week is the endearing film The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. This one slipped completely under my radar when it was first released in theaters. Through word of mouth, I decided one rainy afternoon to catch a matinee, and I'm so glad I did. It's a delight!

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel Trailer Official [HD]

I know that some might think this is a comedy/drama for "old people," it's not. Viewers of all ages will like it. Reviews for The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel were actually quite good, so I don't think you can go wrong catching this one on DVD.

And yes, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that Katy Perry's music documentary, Katy Perry: Part of Me, is finally available on DVD this week. For Perry fans, this is a must see film. It was pretty well reviewed, too.

Katy Perry - Part Of Me Theatrical Trailer

Katy Perry has become one of the most popular pop stars ever, in a very short time. She has a fascinating back story, and yes, the film does include footage following her devastating divorce from Russell Brand.

What will you see on DVD this week?
